The New Lexicon offers a sustained framework in which participants can deepen the conceptual and practical dimensions of institutional work. Over several months, they can move beyond the compressed exchange of a conference panel or planning meeting and develop questions through presentation, response, revision, and public articulation.
The programme provides an opportunity to clarify the philosophies implicit in institutional procedures; analyze how values become criteria, resources, roles, and consequences; develop artistic, curatorial, pedagogical, technological, organizational, or policy projects through substantive feedback; and build more precise languages for communicating institutional purpose and conflict. Participants can test propositions within an international research community and encounter models beyond their usual organizational or regional contexts.
The residency may generate revised projects, new collaborations, research questions, public formats, organizational experiments, and longer-term relationships. Its value lies not in delivering a universal toolkit, but in enabling participants to formulate stronger questions, make more accountable decisions, and connect institutional imagination to the conditions of practice.
